Furman rolls to 62-14 victory over Mars Hill

GREENVILLE, S.C.(AP) Quarterback Jordan Sorrells passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Furman to a 62-14 victory against Mars Hill on Saturday.
The Paladins (1-0) scored 31 second-quarter points to take a 38-0 lead into halftime.
Sorrells was 19-for-26 for 218 yards with scoring passes of 22, 8 and 54 yards. His 7-yard touchdown run capped a 12-play, 87-yard drive and gave Furman a 14-0 lead with 5:34 remaining in the second quarter.
Sederrik Cunningham, Brantley Kendall and Mike Brown also scored to contribute to the second-quarter outburst.
Brown led the Paladins with 93 yards on 13 carries. Kendall scored two touchdowns on the ground as 11 Furman players had rushing attempts.
Mars Hill (0-1) scored both of its touchdowns in the second half. George Stripling scored on a 6-yard run with 11:19 remaining in the third quarter and Luis Cruz had an 8-yard run with 3:29 left in the game.
Furman had 486 yards of total offense.
