Heffner passes Tennessee State past Southern 34-32

NASHVILLE, Tenn.(AP) Tennessee State's Antonio Heffner threw for 315 yards and three touchdowns to lead Tennessee State to a 34-32 victory over Southern University on Saturday night.
Heffner threw scoring passes of 81, 8 and 38 yards to lead the Tigers (2-0), who scored all 34 points in the second half to rally from an 11-0 halftime deficit.
Southern fell to 0-2.
Heffner completed 23-of-29 passes and added 68 yards rushing on eight attempts. Chris Johnson led Tennessee State with seven catches for 158 yards, including an 81-yard reception for the Tigers' first score with 12:29 remaining in the third quarter.
Heffner's output helped offset the production of Southern quarterback Bryant Lee, who was 30 of 40 for 305 yards and four touchdowns. Lee's four scores covered 39, 11, 20 and 13 yards.
Southern's Juamorris Stewart caught 11 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Tennessee State's Javarris Williams rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns, both of which came in the fourth quarter.
