AKRON, Ohio(AP) MiQuale Lewis rushed for 154 yards and two touchdowns and Nate Davis passed for 300 yards and two more scores to lead Ball State past Akron 41-24 on Saturday.
Lewis carried 28 times and scored on runs of 3 and 2 yards. Davis completed 24-of-36 passes with one interception, tossing scoring passes of 21 yards to Briggs Orsbon and 25 yards to Darius Hill.
Ball State (3-0, 1-0 Mid-American Conference) piled up 491 yards of offense.
Chris Jacquemain hit on 21-of-44 passes for 269 yards and a 13-yard scoring pass to Andre Jones, but was also picked off four times - three of them by Sean Baker. Akron (1-2, 0-1) also lost a fumble.
With the score tied at 10 early in the second quarter, the Cardinals ran off the next 21 points on Lewis' two touchdown runs sandwiched around Baker's 33-yard return of a fumble.
Ball State's Ian McGarvey added field goals of 31 and 32 yards.
Deryn Bowser had eight catches for 117 yards for the Zips.
