BIRMINGHAM(AP) Joseph Webb threw for 223 yards, ran for 121 yards and accounted for three touchdowns to lead UAB to a 45-10 win over Alabama State on Saturday.

The Blazers (1-3), who broke a nine-game losing streak, jumped out to a 28-7 halftime lead. It was the first meeting between the schools in 13 years.

Webb scored on a 41-yard touchdown run to give UAB a 7-0 lead in the first quarter. He threw a 24-yard touchdown to Jefferey Anderson in the opening quarter and connected with Anderson again 36-yard for a score to help the Blazers take a 28-7 halftime lead.

Reid Herchenbach completed 25-of-33 passes for 259 yards and an interception for Alabama State (0-3). In the first quarter, he threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to Darius Mathis, who caught seven passes for 118 yards.
