Samford easily handles Western Carolina

CULLOWHEE, N.C.(AP) Dustin Taliaferro threw two touchdown passes and Chris Evans ran for 166 yards and a score to lead Samford to a 21-6 win over Western Carolina on Saturday.
Taliaferro, who was 14-of-16 for 154 yards, connected with Jonathan Lowery on a 22-yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs (3-2) a 14-6 lead with 6:50 left in the third quarter. Taliaferro added a 38-yard score to Riley Hawkins.
Zach Jaynes completed 20 of 33 passes for 162 yards and one interception for the Catamounts (2-4). Donald James caught eight passes for 82 yards and Quan Warley rushed for 47 yards on 16 carries.
Evans, who finished with 34 carries, had a 10-yard touchdown in the first quarter. Lowery had five catches for 69 yards and Hawkins had 63 yards on three receptions.
