GREENSBORO, N.C.(AP) Devan James rushed for 103 yards and Mario Melton added 97 yards on the ground to lead Morgan State to a 41-3 victory over North Carolina A&T on Saturday.
The Bears (3-3, 1-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) led 10-3 at halftime, but James and Melton each scored to lead a 24-point third-quarter outburst and pull away from the Aggies (2-5, 0-3).
Morgan State had 280 yards rushing to 116 for North Carolina A&T. The Aggies had 139 yards of total offense.
Melton scored on a 52-yard run to give Morgan State a 27-3 lead with 1:26 left in the third quarter, and James' 28-yard run on the final play of the third quarter gave Morgan State a 34-3 advantage. The Bears padded their lead on Willie Hardemon's blocked punt return for a touchdown with 6:25 remaining in the game.
Morgan State's Winfred Diggs caught three passes for 89 yards, including a 38-yard score from Carlton Jackson and a 19-yard pass from Jeremy Glover.
Jackson completed 7 of 12 passes for 128 yards.
