Gardner-Webb beats Presbyterian

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.(AP) Devin Campbell threw two touchdowns and Phillip Peoples ran for 176 yards and a score to lead Gardner-Webb to a 47-21 win over Presbyterian on Saturday.

The Runnin' Bulldogs (3-4) took a 20-0 lead in the second quarter after People's 7-yard scoring run, Campbell's 15-yard passing score to Dobson Collins and a 3-yard touchdown run by Patrick Hall.

Campbell, who completed 17 of 28 passes for 193 yards, connected with Collins again on a 29-yard touchdown pass in the second. Collins finished with six catches for 97 yards.

Presbyterian (3-5) scored its first touchdown in the third quarter when Brandon Miley threw a 35-yard passing score to Brandon Clark. But Miley was later picked off by Daniel Cooke, who returned the interception 72-yards for a touchdown to increase Gardner-Webb's lead to 40-7.

Brandon West rushed for 78 yards on nine carries and a touchdown for Gardner-Webb.

Miley went 34-of-48 passing for 331 yards and finished with three interceptions for Presbyterian. Miley also ran for 49 yards on 12 carries, while S.J. Worrell 54 yards rushing on 14 attempts and a touchdown.
