HUNTSVILLE, Texas(AP) Todd Pendland ran for 194 yards and three touchdowns for McNeese State, and Jeremy Haynes returned a Rhett Bomar interception 45 yards for a score in a 28-17 win over Sam Houston State on Saturday.
Pendland had a 68-yard touchdown in the first quarter, his longest run of the game, and also had scoring runs of 3 and 12 yards. McNeese State (4-2, 2-1 Southland) never trailed.
Bomar finished 18-of-39 for 237 yards and two touchdowns, including an 80-yard scoring strike to Chris Lucas. Trey Payne also caught a 14-yard touchdown from the former Oklahoma quarterback.
Taylor Wilkins hit a 40-yard field goal for Sam Houston State (2-3, 0-2).
Pendland accounted for nearly half of McNeese State's 410 yards of total offense.
