W Illinois routs Indiana State 56-0

MACOMB, Ill.(AP) Western Illinois quarterback Zach Wells passed for a pair of touchdowns and ran for a third to lead the Leathernecks to a 56-0 rout of Indiana State on Saturday.

Herb Donaldson ran for two touchdowns as did Chris Porter for Western Illinois (5-2, 3-1 Missouri Valley Football Conference). Dre Gibbs ran for one touchdown while Lito Senatus and Drew Helt each caught a Wells pass for touchdowns.

Matt Seliger and Ryan Roberts played at quarterback for Indiana State (0-7, 0-3 Missouri Valley Football Conference) combining for 21 yards. They each were sacked once. Wells had 119 yards for Western Illinois.

The Leathernecks led 35-0 going into the break after scoring a game-high 21 points in the second period. Overall Indiana State had ten first downs to Western Illinois' 25. The Leathernecks rushed for 333 yards compared with 114 yards for the Sycamores.

Western Illinois played a total 452 offensive yards while Indiana State had 135 yards.

Leatherneck kicker Taylor Rowan completed all eight extra-point attempts after Western Illinois touchdowns. He missed a 43-yard field goal as the second period clock ran down.
