N. Arizona beats Idaho St. 52-30

POCATELLO, Idaho(AP) Freshman running back Deonte Williams rushed for 194 yards and three touchdowns as Northern Arizona beat Idaho State 52-30 on Saturday.

Williams earned his yards on 22 attempts, averaging 8.8 yards per carry. His longest was a 58-yard romp for a touchdown on the second play from scrimmage in the second half, increasing Northern Arizona's lead to 38-16.

The Lumberjacks (6-1, 4-0 Big Sky Conference) had 535 yards total offense to Idaho State's 399 yards.

Northern Arizona quarterback Lance Kriesien was 13-for-21, passing for 270 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Wide receiver Conrad Meadows had four receptions for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

Northern Arizona's defense limited Idaho State (0-7, 0-4) to 23 yards rushing on 26 attempts. Until late in the fourth quarter, ISU had negative yards rushing. Northern Arizona has held its opponents to less than 11 yards rushing per game this season.

Bengals quarterback Russel Hill completed 32 of 49 pass attempts for 361 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He was sacked three times. Wide receiver Eddie Thompson finished with 8 catches for 151 yards.

ISU strong safety Keith Goins returned a Jarrett Huk blocked punt 25 yards for a touchdown to give the Bengals some life with 5:20 left in the first quarter, cutting NAU's lead to 14-6, but that was as close as they got.

Idaho State attempted four on-side kicks in the game, recovering one of them.
