Morgan State beats Delaware State

BALTIMORE(AP) Devan James ran for 103 yards and two touchdowns and Morgan State forced four turnovers in a 20-3 victory over Delaware State on Saturday.

James, the leading rusher in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference who averages 125 yards per game, scored a 2-yard run in the first quarter and scored from 5 yards in the fourth. The Bears (5-3, 3-1 MEAC) held Delaware State to 118 total yards.

An interception by Troy Leftwich on Delaware States 30-yard line set up Morgan States first touchdown. James ran for 26 yards on the next play, and then scored from the 2-yard line two plays later.

The Hornets (4-4, 2-2) did not complete any of its three pass attempts in the first half and had 73 yards rushing. The Hornets did not move the ball inside the 50-yard in the second half. Special teams were not much better as Delaware State returned three punts for 3 yards.

Darren McKhan's interception set up a 5-play, 33-yard drive that ended with James 5-yard run for a 20-3 lead with 6:34 left. James Meade made two, 27-yard field goals for the Bears.
