HOUSTON (AP) Mark Spivey scored on a 7-yard run late in the fourth quarter and the Prairie View A&M defense held on for the final five minutes as the Panthers beat Southern 24-23 on Saturday night.
Prairie View (7-1, 4-1 SWAC) amassed 303 yards of total offense, scoring on two drives late in the third and fourth quarters to take the lead and secure the come-from-behind win.
Southern (4-4, 3-1) had built a 23-10 lead with a little more than seven minutes to go in the third quarter.
Jaguars quarterback Bryant Lee completed 27-of-48 passes for 338 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.
Spivey completed 18-of-33 passes for 203 yards and three interceptions. He also threw for one touchdown.
Donald Babers ran for 116 yards for the Panthers.
