SAN MARCOS, Texas(AP) Byron Lawrence ran for 173 yards and two touchdowns for Northwestern State, including the winning 2-yard score in overtime to beat Texas State 34-31 on Saturday.

The Bobcats began overtime with the ball but ended their drive with Andrew Ireland's 28-yard field goal. Five plays later, Lawrence got his second touchdown on his 34th carry of the game.

Drew Branch threw for 171 yards and one touchdown pass, to Dudley Guice, for Northwestern State (6-3, 3-1 Southland).

Bradley George completed 17-of-36 passes for 201 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for Texas State (5-4, 2-2).

Northwestern State tied the game at 28 with 3:55 left in regulation when William Griffin finished a 15-play, nine-minute drive with a 2-yard touchdown run.
