CHARLESTON, S.C.(AP) Tribble Reese threw for two touchdowns and ran for another to lead Charleston Southern to a 31-21 victory over Virginia Military Intsitute on Saturday.
Tribble, who was 19 of 25 for 243 yards, had touchdown passes of 1 yard to Tyrese Harris and 50 yards to Antwan Ivey. His 3-yard touchdown run gave the Buccaneers (4-5, 2-2 Big South Conference) a 17-14 lead with 16 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
VMI (3-5, 1-2) gained 239 yards on the ground, led by Howard Abegesah, who rushed for 102 yards on 12 carries.
The Keydets took a 14-7 first-quarter lead when Tyler Reedy returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown, but John Paglia kicked a 21-yard field goal and Reese scored on his touchdown run for a 17-14 advantage.
Charleston Southern expanded its lead to 24-14 when Reese connected with Ivey for a 50-yard score with 11:38 remaining in the third quarter.
Gerald Stevenson rushed for 80 yards on only seven carries and caught seven passes for 71 yards for the Buccaneers.
