AKRON, Ohio(AP) Chris Jacquemain threw three touchdown passes and Dennis Kennedy ran for another while rushing for 155 yards as Akron held off Toledo 47-30 Wednesday night.

Two of Jacquemain's TD passes came in the first quarter, as did Aaron Williams' end zone recovery of a blocked punt, as the Zips (5-4, 3-2 Mid-American) jumped out to a 21-0 lead.

Toledo (2-7, 1-4), playing in their first game since eight-year coach Tom Amstutz announced Monday that he'll resign at the end of the season, fought to within three in the third quarter when quarterback Aaron Opelt threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to Stephen Williams.

Jacquemain threw his third touchdown pass on Akron's next possession and Kennedy scored on a two-yard run early in the fourth to expand Akron's lead to 40-23. Andrew Johnson's 33-yard touchdown run several minutes later sealed the win.

Opelt was 23-for-35 for 277 yards, an interception and three touchdown passes, including two to Williams, who had 10 catches for 136 yards. Opelt also ran for a TD.

Jacquemain was 16 of 23 for 226 yards and an interception.
