CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.(AP)Appalachian State's Armanti Edwards tossed two touchdown passes, threw for 176 yards and rushed for 152 yards before resting in the second half of a 49-7 win at Chattanooga.
The second-ranked Mountaineers (8-2, 6-0 Southern Conference) outgained the Moccasins (1-9, 0-6) 655 yards to 227.
Appalachian State's Robert Welton scored three rushing touchdowns in the first half before taking the second half off.
He scored from 18 yards out, and followed a 76-yard run by Edwards with a 1-yard dive. Welton scored in the second quarter from 1-yard out for a 28-7 lead.
Edwards threw a 48-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Courman with 10 seconds left in the first half.
Each of Appalachian State's five first-half touchdown drives consumed less than three minutes.
Appalachian State backup quarterback DeAndre Presley tossed a 38-yard touchdown pass to Blake Elder in the third quarter and scored on a 5-yard run for a 49-7 lead.
Presley also rushed for 101 yards.
Erroll Wynn rushed for 57 yards to lead Chattanooga.
