CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo.(AP)Cade Thompson completed 11 of 22 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns to lead Tennessee-Martin to a 31-21 over Southeast Missouri Saturday.
Brandyn Young scored two touchdowns and Roren Thomas caught six passes for 111 yards and a touchdown for Tennessee-Martin (8-3, 6-1 Ohio Valley).
Southeast Missouri freshman quarterback Matt Scheible, who replaced starter Houston Lillard in the second quarter, rushed for 90 yards and a touchdown and threw for 108 yards and a touchdown for the Redhawks (3-8, 1-6).
After taking a 10-7 halftime lead, Tennessee-Martin scored two quick touchdowns at the start of the second half, on 2- and 3-yard runs by Young. His second touchdown was set up when Tennessee-Martin's Sione Faleofa blocked a punt and Kendal Harper recovered on Southeast Missouri's 3-yard line.
Southeast Missouri answered on its next drive with a 10-yard touchdown run from Timmy Holloman.
Thompson then connected with Mike Hicks on a 10-yard touchdown pass to extend Tennessee-Martin's lead to 31-14. Chante Ahamefule caught an 18-yard pass from Scheible with under a minute left in the game to close the gap to 31-21.
