Samford rolls past Chattanooga 30-7

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.(AP) Chris Evans rushed for 134 yards and three touchdowns to lead Samford to a 30-7 victory over Chattanooga on Saturday.
Evans set a single-season school record with 1,284 yards, surpassing the previous mark of 1,270 set by Surkano Edwards in 1992.
Chattanooga coach Rodney Allison ended his six-year tenure with a career record of 17-51, including a 1-11 (0-8 Southern Conference) mark this season. His contract was not extended beyond this year.
The Bulldogs (6-5, 4-4) scored on a 65-yard pass from Dustin Taliaferro to Riley Hawkins on the second play of the game.
Evans scored from 9 yards out to give Samford a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. He scored on a 5-yard run and Bob Hooper added a 29-yard field goal for a 24-7 halftime lead.
Evans tacked on a 6-yard score in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs finished with a winning record for the first time since 2003.
