COLUMBIA, S.C.(AP) Clemson heads into its season-ending rivalry against South Carolina without defensive end Ricky Sapp, who is out for the season.

Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said Sunday that Sapp partially tore the ACL in his right knee in a 13-3 victory over Virginia. The junior is expected to have surgery in the next few weeks.

Sapp started nine games this season. He had two sacks and led the team in tackles for loss with 10.

The Tigers (6-5) need a victory over South Carolina (7-4) to qualify for the postseason since they played two games this year against Football Championship Subdivision opponents.
