Murfreesboro, TN (Sports Network) - Dwight Dasher completed 18-of-26 pass attempts for 231 yards and two scores to lead the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders to a 31-14 win over the Memphis Tigers in a non-league bout at Floyd Stadium.
Dasher also carried the ball 17 times for 89 yards for the Blue Raiders (1-1). Patrick Honeycutt served as Dasher's favorite target, hauling in five passes for 71 yards and a score.
Curtis Steele led the Tigers (0-2), who managed only 219 total yards, with 29 rushing yards and a touchdown on five carries.
MT took a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter, when Philip Tanner pounded his way in from four yards out for the score.
Memphis answered on its ensuing drive with a 12 yard-touchdown run from Steele.
The Blue Raiders took control of the contest in the second quarter, as Dasher hooked up with Shane Blissard for a 40-yard touchdown strike.
MT extended its lead minutes later, when Alan Gendreau drilled a 28-yard field goal to give the Blue Raiders a 17-7 lead at the half.
Dasher stuck again late in the third quarter, finding Honeycutt for a 24-yard touchdown pass.
The Blue Raiders put the game away in the opening minute of the final quarter, as D.D. Kyles scored on a seven-yard run to give MT a 31-7 lead.
Lance Smith added a late score for the Tigers on a three-yard rush, but it was all for not, as the Blue Raiders earned a 31-14 victory.
MT tallied 18 first downs and 436 yards of total offense in the victory.
