Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Donald Buckram ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns on 14 rushing attempts to power the Texas-El Paso Miners to a 38-12 romp over the New Mexico State Aggies in a non-conference showdown at Aggie Memorial Stadium.
Vernon Frazier also had two rushing touchdowns for Texas-El Paso (1-2).
Seth Smith ran for 99 yards on 13 carries in defeat for New Mexico State (1-2).
The only points of the first quarter came on a one-yard touchdown run by UTEP's Buckram.
Late in the second quarter, the Miners extended their advantage to 14-0 on a two-yard touchdown run by Jason Williams.
UTEP scored 17 more unanswered points in the third quarter to stretch its lead to 31-0. Logan Barrett hit a 29-yard field goal, Buckram had a two-yard touchdown run, and Frazier added a four-yard scoring scamper.
New Mexico State finally got on the board with a one-yard touchdown run by Marquell Colston early in the fourth quarter. The two-point conversion attempt failed, making the score 31-6.
The Miners then extended their advantage to 38-6 with a 13-yard touchdown run by Frazier.
The final points of the day came on a five-yard touchdown run by New Mexico State's Kyle Nelson. That play was followed by another failed two-point conversion attempt.
This game featured a three hour weather delay.
