Orlando, FL (Sports Network) - Brynn Harvey carried the ball 25 times for 98 yards and two scores to lead the UCF Golden Knights to a 23-17 win over the Buffalo Bulls in a non-conference tilt at Bright House Networks Stadium.
Brett Hodges also had a productive day for UCF (2-1), carrying the ball 13 times for 71 yards, while completing 15-of-20 passes for 141 yards.
Zach Maynard led the way for Buffalo (1-2), completing 22-of-35 pass attempts for 184 yards and a score.
The Golden Knights took a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter with a two-yard run by Harvey.
The second quarter belonged to the Bulls, who tied the game at 7-7 early in the period with a six-yard pass from Maynard to Jesse Rack.
Rack gave Buffalo a 14-7 lead minutes later, when he caught a 34-yard pass from Naam Roosevelt.
Buffalo added to its lead on the final play of the first half, when A.J. Principe nailed a 27-yard field goal to give the Bulls a 17-7 lead at the break.
The Golden Knights fought back in the third quarter when Harvey powered his way into the end zone from four yards out to make it a 17-14 contest.
UCF tied the game in the closing minutes of the third quarter on a 44-yard field goal by Nick Cattoi.
Cattoi gave his team the lead midway through the fourth quarter with a 22-yard field goal.
Cattoi put the game away minutes later, drilling a 42-yard field goal to give UCF the 23-17 win.
UCF controlled the football in the win, outrushing Buffalo 170-86 on the night.
