Chestnut Hill, MA (Sports Network) - Montel Harris ran for a career-high 179 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Boston College Eagles to a 28-21 win over the Florida State Seminoles in an Atlantic Coast Conference showdown at Alumni Stadium.

Dave Shinskie threw for 203 yards and two touchdowns for BC (4-1, 2-1 ACC). The Eagles were honoring linebacker Mark Herzlich, who is battling Ewing's sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.

FSU (2-3, 0-2) quarterback Christian Ponder threw for a career-high 341 yards in the loss. Richard Goodman had nine catches for 105 yards, while Bert Reed hauled in seven catches for 107 yards.

The Seminoles took a 3-0 lead midway through the opening quarter on a 31-yard field goal by Dustin Hopkins.

BC answered with a nine-play, 79-yard drive, capped by Harris' three-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 7-3 lead.

BC tacked on seven more points on a three-yard touchdown pass from Shinskie to Rich Gunnell midway through the second quarter.

The Eagles pushed their lead to 21-3 on a 38-yard scoring strike from Shinskie to Jeff Smith with 59 seconds remaining until halftime.

But FSU put together a quick six-play drive, resulting in a 39-yard field goal by Hopkins as time expired in the first half.

A 10-yard touchdown run by FSU's Louis Givens accounted for the only points of the third quarter.

But the Seminoles weren't done, as Jermaine Thomas capped a seven-play, 84- yard drive with a two-yard touchdown plunge at the 10:48 mark of the fourth quarter. Bert Reed connected with tight end Caz Piurowski for the two-point conversion to tie the score at 21-21.

However, Harris would have the last laugh, as his 42-yard touchdown burst with 4:07 to play proved to be the game-winner.

The Seminoles lost despite out-gaining BC in total offense, 411-399.
