Akron, OH (Sports Network) - Theo Scott completed 11-of-21 pass attempts for 132 yards and a touchdown to lead the Ohio University Bobcats to a 19-7 win over the Akron Zips in a Mid-American Conference showdown at Infocision Stadium.
Vince Davidson led the Bobcats (4-2, 2-0 MAC) ground attack, carrying the ball 12 times for 69 yards.
Joe Tuzze guided the Zips (1-4, 0-2) with 60 yards and a score on 14 carries.
Ohio took an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter with a 27-yard field goal by Matt Weller. It would be the only score of the half, giving the Bobcats a slight advantage at the break.
The Bobcats made it a 10-0 game early in the third quarter, when Melvin Payne fell on a blocked punt in the endzone.
Akron responded just minutes later with a three-yard touchdown run from Tuzze to make it a 10-7 contest.
Ohio made it a 13-7 game early in the fourth quarter behind a 27-yard field goal by Weller.
The Bobcats put the game away minutes later, when Scott hooked up with Terrence McCrae from seven yards out to seal the 19-7 victory.
Despite being outgained 346-292, Ohio was able to come out on top thanks to five forced turnovers.
