Miami, FL (Sports Network) - The Troy Trojans put together a big offensive effort in a 42-33 Sun Belt win over the Florida International Golden Panthers at FIU Stadium.
The Trojans (4-2, 3-0 Sun Belt) piled up 565 yards in total offense as they won their fourth straight.
Levin Brown powered the offense by going 28-for-37 through the air for 391 yards and three touchdowns. DuJuan Harris rushed for 86 yards and a score.
Paul McCall threw for 257 yards for FIU (1-5, 1-2), which was looking to win its second straight.
Brown started the surge for the Trojans by finding Tebiarus Gill with a 13-yard scoring pass five minutes into the first quarter.
Daunte Owens answered back for the Golden Panthers with a four-yard run early in the second quarter that tied the game at 7-7. Dustin Rivest then gave Florida International a brief 10-7 lead with a 41-yard field goal two minutes later.
Brown responded for Troy by throwing a 40-yard pass to Jerrell Jernigan for one touchdown and hitting DuJuan Harris with a seven-yard throw for another to give the Trojans a 21-10 advantage.
Maurice Greer ran 46 yards for a score with just over two minutes left in the half to give his team a 28-10 lead.
The Golden Panthers cut into the deficit before the end of the half. Paul McCall hit Kendall Berry with a nine-yard scoring pass before Rivest added a 22-yuard field goal that made it 28-20 at the break.
Harris and Shawn Southward scored touchdowns less than a minute apart on runs of four and three years, respectively, early in the third quarter to extend Troy's lead to 42-20.
Darrian Mallary's five-yard run midway through the fourth quarter brought Florida International to within two scores at 42-27.
The Golden Panthers scored as time expired when Paul McCall hit Jason Frierson with a two-yard scoring pass to make the final more respectable at 42-33, but the result was still a loss.
Troy lost three fumbles but averaged 7.3 yards per offensive snap.
