Kent, OH (Sports Network) - Spencer Keith threw for 373 yards and two touchdowns as the Kent State Golden Flashes downed the Western Michigan Broncos 26-14 in a Mid-American Conference game at Dix Stadium.
Keith, a freshman, was 24-of-34 through the air. Wideout Tyshon Goode caught 11 passes for 198 yards and two scores as Kent State (5-4, 4-1 MAC) won its third straight. Jacquise Terry ran for 90 yards and a touchdown.
Tim Hiller was 31-of-49 for 255 yards and two scores for the Broncos (4-5, 3-3). Robert Arnheim caught seven balls for 78 yards and a score.
Freddy Cortez gave Kent State a 3-0 lead six minutes into the first quarter with a 24-yard field goal.
The Broncos took the lead early in the second quarter when Hiller connected with Ansel Ponder on a two-yard scoring pass.
Cortez booted a 39-yard field goal midway through the period to make it a 7-6 game.
Kent State retook the lead when Keith hit Goode with a 34-yard scoring strike with just under three minutes left in the first half.
The pair hooked up on a 19-yard touchdown early in the third period to give the Golden Flashes a 20-7 lead.
Western Michigan closed the deficit to 20-14 when Hiller hit Arnheim with a nine-yard touchdown pass with just over eight minutes left in the game.
Terry responded for Kent State with a 15-yard touchdown run two minutes later.
Kent State piled up 477 yards in total offense and averaged 7.2 yards per offensive snap. The Golden Flashes were 10-of-14 on third-down conversions.
The Kent State defense recorded four sacks for 31 yards in losses.
