New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - G.J. Kinne tossed for 211 yards and a touchdown on 15-of-20 attempts and added 77 yards and a score on the ground, leading the Tulsa Golden Hurricane to a 37-13 victory over the Tulane Green Wave in the season and Conference USA opener for both programs.

Damaris Johnson had a terrific all-around game, highlighted by a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter for Tulsa (1-0, 1-0 C-USA), which is coming off a school-record 11-win campaign. Johnson also had 60 yards receiving yards and 31 yards rushing in the victory.

Charles Clay added 50 yards and a touchdown on nine carries for the victors.

Joe Kemp threw for 278 yards with a touchdown and interception on 16-of-26 efficiency for Tulane (0-1, 0-1), which last year endured its sixth straight losing season. Casey Robottom caught a TD and finished with 82 yards on six receptions, while Jeremy Williams led all receivers with 139 yards on five catches.

The Golden Hurricane outrushed the Green Wave, 201-39.

Tulsa's Kevin Fitzpatrick kicked a 22-yard field goal to get the scoring started early in the first quarter.

Kinne's 15-yard scamper to paydirt later in the frame was followed up by Clay's five-yard score shortly after a Kemp interception, and the Golden Hurricane led 17-0.

The teams traded field goals in the second quarter, and Fitzpatrick opened the second-half scoring with a 24-yard boot.

Robottom's 20-yard grab near the five-minute mark of the third made it a manageable 23-10 score for Tulane, but Johnson's 66-yard punt return early in the fourth all but sealed the game.

Ross Thevenot added a 29-yard field goal later in the final stanza for the Green Wave, and Kinne tossed an unnecessary 12-yard touchdown to Trae Johnson with less than two minutes left in the game to account for the final margin.
