Mike Krzyzewski hopes his Duke team learned something from its first ACC loss of the season.

The fifth-ranked Blue Devils look to bounce back from that stunning defeat and remain atop the conference when they visit Miami on Wednesday night.

Duke (22-2, 10-1) was shocked 86-73 at Wake Forest on Sunday, snapping its 12-game winning streak. The Blue Devils hadn't lost since a 65-64 overtime defeat to then-No. 11 Pittsburgh on Dec. 20 at Madison Square Garden.

The Blue Devils still lead the ACC, holding a one-game lead over North Carolina, but their coach didn't like what he saw from his talented but young squad against Wake.

"We played like we've already done something, and the team that had to win won," Krzyzewski said. "We have to always play like we have to win. That's the sign of a champion. That's a part of learning. We have some young guys who haven't been champions before, and they're trying to learn how to be that. Sometimes the best lessons are ones that are taught in defeat.

"I don't think it meant that we just laid down and died. Our kids fought. At this time of the year, you have to match or be better than the other team."

Duke shot 40.6 percent and committed a season-high 22 turnovers. The Blue Devils trailed by five at halftime and fell further behind when Wake went on a 17-2 run midway through the second half. Duke went more than 7 minutes without a field goal in the final period.

The Blue Devils gave up their highest point total of the season while allowing their second opponent in three games to score 80 or more points.

"I think it was just us not being as aggressive as we've been all year, taking the right shots, and just passing up a lot of shots that we should have taken, and second-guessing ourselves early," said freshman guard Nolan Smith, who had a career-high 21 points. "Lackadaisical turnovers, out of bounds, that's what happens."

Leading scorer DeMarcus Nelson had 18 points and freshman Kyle Singler added 17 for the Blue Devils, who had won their previous 12 games by an average of 14.3 points.

Duke looks to get back on track Wednesday as it tries for an 11th straight victory over the Hurricanes and fifth in a row at Miami.

Nelson, who averages 15.5 points, had 21 as the Blue Devils overcame 49.2 percent shooting by Miami (17-7, 4-6) in an 88-73 home victory Feb. 2.

The Hurricanes won 64-63 at Georgia Tech on Sunday, their second straight victory after losing three in a row.

Jack McClinton had 23 points and hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 45 seconds remaining for Miami, which won despite shooting 35.2 percent. McClinton, the team's leading scorer at 16.2 points per game, is averaging 19.3 in his last three contests since being held to 10 by Duke earlier this month.
