Midnight Madness is the annual event that marks the beginning of the college basketball season. The old rules used to allow teams to start the first practice of the year at 12:01am of the first official practice day. In 2005, the rules were relaxed so that teams could start before midnight, but us old timers still call it Midnight Madness. If you are interested in learning more about the history of Midnight Madness including why schools had to stop using the term, check out this article or this one.

At StatSheet.com we celebrate Midnight Madness like it is Christmas. In fact, we thought of no better day to officially launch this website than Midnight Madness 2007. That means we are going to work night and day to get this site ready for our first official release. If that wasn't enough pressure, we put a cheesy countdown counter on every page just to remind us! Until then we consider oursevles in "training camp", so the site may not work exactly as we intend (broken links, missing functionality, etc.). Just bare with us, we think you'll like the end result.

Enough about logistics. At StatSheet.com, we are all about giving you access to college basketball information and stats you won't find elsewhere. In that vein, we are starting a list of planned Midnight Madness events. If you know of a Midnight Madness event not listed here, please let us know!

Here is the current list:

And these schools aren't participating this year! Booo.
