(Sports Network) - Charlotte Bobcats head coach Larry Brown said his team wasn't ready to play in a season-opening loss on Wednesday in Boston. Tonight the Bobcats hope to be on point when they celebrate their home opener versus the New York Knicks at Time Warner Cable Arena.
Charlotte put forth a paltry offensive effort in Wednesday's 92-59 setback at Boston, setting a franchise-low in total points. The Bobcats, who won a team- record 35 games last season in Brown's first with the club, shot 31.1 percent in Beantown and missed all 10 attempts from three-point territory.
Gerald Wallace was the only player to score in double figures, as he registered 10 points and Raymond Felton added nine in defeat. Tyson Chandler made his Charlotte debut and ended with only six rebounds. Chandler, who was acquired in July in a deal that sent Emeka Okafor to New Orleans, missed all five of his field goal tries.
"Our team wasn't prepared, weren't ready to play," Brown said following the loss. "That's nobody's fault but the coach. We got a lot of guys scared to death and that's tough."
New York is coming off a season-opening loss as well, and dropped a 115-93 decision to the Miami Heat on Wednesday from AmericanAirlines Arena.
David Lee and Danilo Gallinari finished with 22 points apiece, while Lee fell a rebound short of a double-double with nine boards for the Knicks, which finished 32-50 last season and missed the playoffs for the fifth straight season. Lee recorded an NBA-high 65 double-doubles last season.
Wilson Chandler added 21 points, while Al Harrington had 15 points in a losing effort.
"We had a breakdown defensively," said Harrington. "We let our offense affect our defense. When we stopped making shots, we hung our heads and didn't have the same energy defensively. We were getting scored on and not scoring on the other end."
After tonight's game, the Knicks will return to Madison Square Garden for a four-game homestand.
New York and Charlotte split four matchups last season, but the Knicks have won four of the previous six encounters.
